The Week In Links (Parties, Brisket and A Wedding)

Buddy Media Summer Tweetup!

The dog days of summer are here. I thought the social activity would slow down but no!
Monday, I attended the Dachis Group meetup at the Church Lounge of the Tribeca Grand.

Tuesday, I stopped by the Agency Spy party and then went to see Carolyn’s show at 59E59. Read a great review.

Wednesday, I ate beef brisket and hung out with friends at Buddy Media’s event at Hill Country which they announced the launch of their very cool and comprehensive Twitter analytics product.

Thursday, I sauntered down to Soho to theĀ  Peek party. I met Peek Founder Amol Sarva and chatted with Greg Gallant about Muckrack’s new one line press release service.

Saturday, I was a guest at the lovely morning wedding of Colette and Sean. The reception was at Brooklyn Botanical Garden. In the afternoon, I went up to Harlem for another of Matt’s BBQs.

The pickled radishes pictured above may look like watermelon, but tastes like a pickle.

Tuesday, I went to the Universal Records Database (URDB) event and it was fun. Erin and Her Cello was the special guest performer and I got to sing backup on a couple of her songs. Yay!

Friday, I got a pint of Jeni’s Salty Caramel ice cream. So good.

There's @niche gettin her chef on. #hotdog09 on Twitpic

Saturday afternoon, I competed in the 4th Annual Hot Dog Cookoff. I didn’t win but I had a blast! Later that night I competed again—in the Housing Works Spelling Bee. I didn’t win but I did well considering I was near delirious from an afternoon of soaking in sun, hot dogs, and Kelso Beer.

Sunday was mellow with shopping at Re/Dress, brunch with the girls at Robin Des Bois and dinner with the Boy at Brookvin. We ate pickled radishes, country pate and lardo.

The Week In Links (Melancholy and the Infinite Cupcakes)

I Want This Trophy

Tuesday was the July NYTM. Loved Zagat’s App. Afterwards, there was beef brisket to eat at Hill Country.

Wednesday, the Boy and I went to see Medicine for Melancholy. The film is excellent. Later, we went to Habana Outpost.

Thursday was the “meat and greet” for the upcoming Hot Dog Cookoff.

Saturday, Cupcakes Take The Cake had a meetup in Hoboken.

I got my necklace from Wendy Mink in the mail and I love it.

Sunday, I went to Bastille Day on Smith Street, danced at the Afro Punk Block Party in Fort Greene and had dinner at Toby’s Public. Best Brooklyn Day Ever!

The Short Week In Links (Afropunk, Hot Dogs,Twitterbook)

July 004

Monday, I went to the CD release party for Adira Amram’s “Hot Jams for Teens”.

Tuesday, I went to a book event at Agency 16 for The Twitter Book by Tim O’Reilly and Sarah Milstein.

Wednesday, I stopped by Blip.tv party.

Friday, I went to Joe’s pub for Erin and Her Cello’s show. It was great! Adira Amram, Carla Rhodes and Shockwave (who is a cast member for PBS’s The Electric Company) were guest stars.

Saturday, I celebrated the 4th of July with friends.

Sunday, I went to AfroPunk Festival at the BAM parking lot. I saw Sweetie, Apollo Heights, Tamar Kali, Peekaboo Theory and Earl Greyhound. I heard a rumor that Living Colour may perform, but it didn’t turn out to be true. All the bands rocked. It was FREE!
