Earlier this year, I took plenty of photos of myself, mainly to see what clothes and colors look good on me, and partly to be a gratuitous blogger. However, in the last four months, I have stopped taking pictures of myself and coincidentally I have gained 10lbs. I took the photo above on Friday, but you may notice my smile and my paisley pink pashmina, the thing is I noticed how tight was the skirt I had on. This extra weight is uncomfortable, and I keeping wishing it was magically disappear on its own accord. I was always skinny growing up so I never learned the discipline of exercise and/or dieting. Similarly I did well in school up until college so I had to learn how to study or risk flunking out of school. I have to learn how to do this diet and exercise thing whereas some of my friends are “A-students”. The first thing I’m trying is to eat less, and to sleep more. My metabolism ain’t what it used to be, but my hedonism still yearns for burgers and fries.
I found an old “want list” which is way more focused on intention than a “wish list”. It’s a list of things I want for my life. [The things in bold is what I can safely say I have achieved.]

Tuesday, I was hanging out at the Air America offices watching the early elections returns and carbo-loading on pasta before going to the 236.com party in Soho. It was great to see Baratunde Thurston there, yet I wish he was hologrammed into the CNN studios instead of Will.I. Am.
Wednesday, I had a election night hangover/euphoria but got back into the swing of things by attending the Akamai launch party at IAC.
Thursday was quiet.
Tonight, I am going to see the Sweet Divines at the Tribeca 92 Street Y.
Yes We Did! I voted in Harlem in the morning, then worked anxiously all day waiting for exit poll information. Later, Matt and I stopped by Air America offices and then over to the 236.com party where we watched the returns.
Every week, I have some things outstanding on my to-do list, and I have to balance to that with client work, blogging, meetings and events. Time flies by so fast that a recap is needed just so I remember what happened. Howwever, I am lazy, so it’s best to just give links to the people, places and things related to the week ending October 31.
If you watch “Mad Men” then you know about Sheila, the cashier from New Jersey who was Pretentious Paul Kinsey’s girlfriend this season on Mad Men. Now that the season is over, I thought about their short-lived relationship. If you didn’t watch the show, then you may find all this boring, but bare with me.
The interesting thing about the relationship was not just that it was both an interracial and interclass relationship. Paul worked as a creative in advertising agency and Sheila probably made even less than whatever minimum wage was in 1962. They went to Mississippi together to participate in the Civil Rights Movement, but Sheila broke up him with not longer after. [Smart girl] Even though it is 2008, it is still rare that people date both outside of their race and social class. I have dated men who were both, and it can work as long don’t solely identify yourself by your race, ethnicity or how much money you make. I may be rambling on about a show that is fictionally set at a time before I was even born, but it just seems that things have not changed that much in 46 years. It is comforting and disturbing at the same time. Are we ready for change? I really hope so.
