The Week In Links: Fat Thursday, Being Fat

Mardi Gras Cupcake Meetup, originally uploaded by nichellest.

The reason I do “the week in links” is because I barely remember what happened yesterday let alone a week ago.

Tuesday: Drinks with Mixing Bowl editor Heather and Ripple 6’s Katie.

Wednesday: Bookkeeping presentation at New Work City.

Thursday: Pre-Mardi Gras Cupcake Meetup at Jimmys No 43.

Friday: sniffling, sneezing, and got the bridesmaid’s sandals delivered from Macys.

Saturday: sniffling, coughing but also joined Weight Watcher’s Online (for my sister’s wedding).

Sunday: blowing my nose, sniffling, and watched the Oscars at Comix.

Best compliment I got this week: A nice young lady at the cupcake meetup asked me if the pink shirt I wore was American Apparel.  I told her I am too fat for American Apparel, but thanks!

The Week In Links (Social Media, Sharon Jones, Shorty Awards)

Last week was Social Media Week and the parties were flowing.

I went to the Shorty Awards, met MC Hammer and drank too many fail whales.

Friday I went to the New York screening of Nerdcore Rising at the 92nd Y Tribeca which was directed and produced by the wonderful Negin Farsad. She is definitely on my list of “people I know who should be famous”.

Saturday was Valentine’s Day, and the guy and I went to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the Nokia Theatre. It was a great show!

The Week In Links (February 6) Museum Of Art of Design, Right Rides Fundraiser

First Lady 2.12.09

It’s Monday the 9th, so I am late with this blog post.

Yesterday, I visited the brand new Museum of Art and Design at 2 Columbus Circle. There’s some cool work there. The Artist studio  on the 6th floor had Harlem artist Charles McGill working on a golf bag.  He decoupages golf bags with African American images and quotes that he finds through Google searches on the internet.  The result is iconic patterns created by repetition of .jpgs.

Netflixed: Breakfast on Pluto

Queercents Interviews: Robin Cloud and Daryn DeZengotita

New York Tech Meetup:  I’m on the Community Committee

Fundraiser: First Lady Fundraiser on February 12 at 7-10PM, $10.  It’s a fundraiser for Girls for Gender Equity, RightRides, and SAFER.

The Week In Links Featuring Martha and Mashable (January 16)

Martha Stewart Show, originally uploaded by CupcakeStacie.

January is moving too fast for my liking. We’re already mid-month, and next week is MLK Day and the Inauguration. Check my bit.ly for some of the links I twittered this week.

Jelly in Dumbo at Drop.io

Mashable party then Mashable overflow at Carriage House where Arc90 sponsored a round of drinks.

Martha Stewart taping where Butter Lane and Sweet Revenge’s cupcakes were featured. Then I went to Ritz Carlton’s Carnival of Chocolate event.  Alex from Blondie and Brownie and Danielle from Yaybia joined us as well.

Fashion 2.0 Meetup

The word this week is “microcelebrity”. This word is over! That kind of “fame” is relative to the number of people who know you and talk about you when you are not there. It is not even real fame or even “long tail” fame. It is chatter that is fleeting. Get over yourself.

The Week In Links (January 2)

Happy New Year in New York! Going in reverse order with Friday, January 2 being first.

Friday: Went to see Doubt at the Angelica, then dinner at Rolfs.  I got my wurst on!

Thursday: Hoppin’ John at Kate’s place. The hangover wasn’t too bad.

Wednesday: Lupe’s for dinner,  a drink at the Nancy Whiskey before a very low key and fun party in Tribeca.

Tuesday: EVE EVE party.

Monday: Met with a new client at Variety Cafe in Williamsburg. Bought these cute sneakers from the Tretorn store.

The Week in Links (December 12)

Sunday, I went to Neal Medlyn, Bridget Everett and Kenny Mellman’s show, “Out Hit Parade“. It was great! After the show, there was a White Trash Xmas party downstairs at the Zipper Theatre.

Monday I attended the wedding happy hour reception for newly married Jessica Cutler at the Church Lounge of The Tribeca Grand. While at the bar, I spotted Brooke Shields and Chris Noth who were unwittingly part of the reception. Below is the wedding cake.

Wednesday, I stopped by the PR Newser party at Heartland Brewery and after that I went to see Lee Ann Westover and Todd Londagin’s new band, The Peekskill Numismatic Society at Cafe Steinhof.  On  my way to the show, I couldn’t resist buying 2009 glasses for New Year’s Eve.
