90,000 are dead. That’s a whole lot of humanity. We are not robots. We cannot process this. It’s grave. It’s sad. It’s mournful.
I don’t know.

I like to take photos of my breakfast. I have a newsletter on Substack, and here’s the text below.
Johno Morisano, the co-owner of The Grey and The Grey Market, said that during a Zoom call. The future of the restaurant industry is in limbo but you can be sure that it will be more expensive to eat out than before the pandemic. Read his essay Garden and Gun. https://gardenandgun.com/articles/the-view-from-an-empty-restaurant
Keep yourself out of the ER by following these first aid tips.
My friend’s father is quoted is the article from The Marshall Project.
I just started a podcast, y’all. Check out Nichelle Newsletter on Spotify or other podcast platforms. This episode is less than 15 minutes, so give it a listen.
It’s been a day. I found that I tested negative for the COVID-19. However, I am still anxious and yet I am blessed. This pandemic life is full of “yes and”. I have taken a few improv classes in my day. Improv is about repetition, reacting, adjusting. It isn’t just going with the flow. It is taking what you got and making it make sense and hopefully make it funny.
This is the most sober Cinco de Mayo for me in years. I am not going anywhere and I won’t have any margaritas, either. Yesterday my family and I went to get the Covid test at a pop-up testing site in the neighborhood. We sat in the car for two hours before getting tested. It’s a relief to have the test done and I pray that we are all negative.
Y’all it is May. I am weirdly cautiously optimistic about where we as humans will on the other side of this pandemic. People are dying. People are starving. However, I am inspired by people who can see the other side. I needed a respite from the bullshit.

Why journal when everyday is basically the same? I am listening to Gretchen Rubin and Liz Craft from The Happier podcast on IG Live and they are talking about the new terminology that we are using now.
Here’s a list:
I watched two documentaries on Amazon Prime today. Amazon is streaming some of the films that were going to be screened at SXSW.
After two weeks living at home, this is where we are at. My Dad watches too much FOX News. He yells and curses at the tv. My mom posts too much on Facebook. She has nightmares and cleans all the time. There are five of us on the family group text, and four of us live in the house currently. Talking via the group text is not productive.
54,000 people have died.
Type A people have to be going bonkers right now. You can control this current level of uncertainty. We all have to open up our aperture of uncertainty right now. All the systems are failing. Up is down and down is sideways.
Speaking of opening the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, is planning open some businesses starting this FRIDAY. He didn’t consult mayors from Atlanta, Albany, Savannah. He blindsided the whole state.
In the meantime, my mom is sewing masks. I cleaned the barbecue grill for my Dad. Yesterday, I made a savory loquat sauce in the slow cooker.
Happy 4/20 y’all! It’s a holiday. Spark it up if you have it. I have been listening to Fiona Apple’s new album, ‘Fetch The Bolt Cutters”, and I really like it.
Over 40,000 people have died in the US due to the coronavirus. People are losing their people. It’s not OK, and it is feckless that think that 40,000 deaths in two months is acceptable.
My friend Desiree Burch is the hilarious and cheeky narrator of the new Netflix reality show, ‘Too Hot To Handle’. I binged the whole series over the weekend. It’s fun. Desiree Burch is an actor and comedian and she performed at my old comedy show, Chicks and Giggles. The other show I watched was Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu. This show is so good. Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon deserve Emmy nominations.
It’s Wednesday, which is usually hump day for a normal work week. However, nothing is normal. This is the new abnormal. Coincidentally, The Strokes newest album is called The New Abnormal. I listened to The Strokes first album repeatedly after 09/11.
Apparently, a lot of people are getting their stimulus checks and they are kinda bragging about it. It’s a little gauche. It’s April 15th which is usually income tax day, but the tax deadline has been extended to July 15th.
The numbers:
The death toll for the United States is 26,000. One third of all cases are in the U.S.
